20 percent discount on electricity tariff to domestic consumers

KATHMANDU: In a bid to promote the use of induction stoves, the government is preparing to provide a 20 percent discount on electricity tariff to customers consuming electricity up to 150 units per month.

The Ministry of Energy and Water Resource said it has directed the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) to that considering a possible shortage of cooking gas cylinders over COVID-19 fear.

Energy Minister Barshaman Pun has already directed NEA Managing Director Kulman Ghising, Minister Pun’s Secretariat said in a statement.

Minister Pun hoped that the discount in the electricity tariff will help to displace cooking gas cylinders.
