85 India returnees kept in Baitadi quarantines

BAITADI: The District Administration Office, Baitadi has designated the local levels to keep the India returnee people in the quarantines.

On Tuesday, 85 individuals of Baitadi district had arrived Nepal via Gauriphanta and Gaddachauki checkpoints of Sudur Paschim, and all of them were sent to the respective local levels, Chief District Officer Ananda Poudel said.

Of them, 38 are from Dogdakedar Rural Municipality followed by Dasharathchand Municipality, 17, and Sunarya Rural Municipality, 11. The officials said that Patan Municipality and Melauli Municipality have equal six India returnees while two from Purchaudi Municipality and two from Shivanath Rural Municipality.

Entering into Nepal, the Sudur Paschim State Government had made arrangements to send them to their district.

As the number of locals coming home from India has increased, the local levels have taken nothing remarkable initiatives except asking them to stay in self-quarantine. Against this backdrop, the health workers have feared that the villagers are more unsafe than the cities from this trend.

Likewise, the District Administration Office, Baitadi said that it is searching for the local people who arrived home from India during the past one week.

CDO Poudel said that the entrants would be asked to stay in self-quarantines after collecting their data by through the people’s representatives and health workers with the coordination of local levels.

Meanwhile, specimens of two individuals receiving treatments in isolations wards after coming from India is sent to National Public Health Laboratory, Kathmandu for tests. Of the two, one is a youth from Purchaudi and another is a 58-year woman from Dasharathchand Municipality. The two were kept in isolation after they developed a high fever, Dr. Basantaraj Joshi of District Hospital said.

The woman had come home from Sukhad of Kailali district 10 days ago while the youth is learned to have arrived Nepal crossing the Mahakali River from the tube at a time when Nepal-India border was sealed off.

Four other youth, who arrived in Nepal by crossing the river from the tube, are also kept in isolation.

With the increased number of returnees from different countries, mostly from India, the local levels in the district have prepared isolation wards and also quarantines to get prepared against the COVID-19.
