96 Nepali returnees being quarantined at Kharipati

KATHMANDU: Twenty-three more Nepali returnees have been taken to quarantine facility set up at Kharipati in Bhaktapur district.

With this, the score of people quarantined in the Kharipati facility has reached 96, including 77 male and 19 female, informed Nepal Army Birdal Battalion Commander Colonel Shiva Prasad Poudel.

A team of security personnel took the returnees from different places of India to a quarantine facility on Wednesday night.

The government had sent 49 Nepalis returnees from different countries including Dubai and Qatar via Thai Airways and 13 returnees via Air India to quarantine on March 21.

A five-member team of health workers comprising two doctors has been assigned there to carry out their health examinations. All of them would be quarantined for at least 14 days.

They would be taken to Shukraraj Tropical and Infectious Disease Hospital, Teku if they tested positive for coronavirus during their quarantine stay.

All arrangements have been made at Kharipati-based quarantine in line with the WHO standard. Similarly, the government is making preparation to develop Nagarkot-based hotels as a quarantine center to accommodate 500 people.
