NC President Deuba refutes involvement in leasing Nepal Trust land

KATHMANDU: President of Nepali Congress and former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has refuted claims that he was involved in making a decision on leasing the land of Nepal Trust.

Issuing a press release on Wednesday, NC President Deuba raised concern over the white-paper released by the government on Tuesday which claimed that the Deuba, too, was involved in making decisions during his premiership.

In the statement, Deuba said that the Nepal Trust Act was endorsed in 2007 as was called an autonomous organization. He argued that the decisions then used to be taken at the bureaucracy level.

He dubbed the government’s allegation as ‘inappropriate’ both from the political and legal point of view.

Deuba also claimed that the allegation against him was a deliberate attempt to divert the issue of the leaked audio of former Information Minister Gokul Baskota over bargaining for Rs 700 million commission.
