HoR election: Over 10.9 million ballot papers printed for FPTP category



KATHMANDU: The Election Commission (EC) has informed that over 10.9 million ballot papers have been printed so far for the First-Past-The-Post (FPTP) category of the House of Representatives election scheduled for coming March 5.

Kul Bahadur GC, Assistant Spokesperson at EC, told RSS that printing of more than 10.9 million (total 10,963,000) ballot papers were carried out for 88 constituencies of 37 districts so far.

Altogether, 20.32 million (total 20,323,000) ballot papers are required for the HoR’s FPTP category for all 165 constituencies across the country.

Assistant Spokesperson GC confirmed that packing of printed ballot papers for 37 districts has already been completed.
According to the EC, printing and packing works were over for 37 districts.

These districts are Dolpa, Mugu, Jumla, Kalikot, Humla, Jajarkot, Dailekh, Rukum (Paschim), Salyan and Surkhet.

Likewise, the districts for which the printing of ballot papers are over included Bajura, Achham, Bajhang, Doti, Dadheldhura, Darchula, Baitadi, Kailali and Kanchanpur.

Furthermore, printing and packing process were carried out for Panchthar, Ilam, Tehrathum, Bhojpur, Okhaldunga, Sunsari, Taplejung, Sankhuwasabha, Solukhumbu, Khotang and Dhankuta.

The remaining districts for which ballot papers have been printed and packed are Baglung, Gulmi, Jhapa, Gorkha, Myagdi, Parbat and Bardaghat Susta Paschim Nawalparashi.

According to the EC, printing of ballot papers for other remaining districts’ constituencies is currently underway at Janak Education Materials Centre, Sano Thimi, Bhaktapur. Ballot papers for both the Proportional Representation (PR) and FPTP category of the election are being printed in the state-owned printing entity.

Printing of ballot paper under FPTP electoral system began on January 6 while more than 1 million sample ballot papers were printed and dispatched to various districts in the first phase, said the EC. The EC started printing ballot papers under PR system since January 10 and by January 27, more than 20.83 million ballot papers were printed and verified and ready for dispatch, informed EC, the constitutional body responsible for conducting and monitoring election.
