KATHMANDU: Indian Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla, who is on a two-day visit to Nepal, paid a courtesy call on President Bidya Devi Bhandari on Thursday evening.

Issues related to bilateral cooperation were discussed during the meeting at the President’s Office.

During the meeting, President Bhandari urged the Indian side to take the bilateral relations to a new high through mutual efforts.

During a courtesy call, the President made such remarks.

President’s Information and Communications Expert Tika Prasad Dhakal said that the President urged for making mutual relations between the two countries more dynamic, and take the relations to a new high.

Earlier today, visiting Foreign Secretary Shringla called on Prime Minister KP Oli at Baluwatar, Foreign Minister Pradeep Kumar Gyawali at Singha Durbar, and also held talks with his Nepali counterpart Bharat Raj Poudyal.
Shringla is scheduled to meet President Bidya Devi Bhandari later in the evening.

He will visit Gorkha tomorrow to inaugurate a school building built by Indian Embassy. This is the first visit of the Foreign Secretary to Nepal since he assumed the charge.

The visit is in keeping with the tradition of regular high-level exchanges between the two neighbors and the priority India attaches to its relations with Nepal, India’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said in its statement.

Shringla’s visit comes after two back-to-back high-level visits from new Delhi by Indian Army Chief General Manoj Mukund Naravane (November) and Research and Analysis Wing head Samant Goel (October).

Shringla will return home after wrapping up his two-day official visit to Nepal on Friday.
