Home Ministry forms 3-member committee to probe Bardibas shooting



KATHMANDU: The Home Ministry has formed a committee to investigate the shooting by police during a protest against the killing of a girl in Bardibas, Mahottari.

A three-member investigation committee has been formed under the leadership of the Under Secretary of the Ministry.

One person was killed and two others were injured when police opened fire at protestors on Tuesday. Buddhiraj Neupane of Bardibas-1, who was injured in police firing on Tuesday, died in course of treatment at the Grande Hospital in Kathmandu on Wednesday.

The ministry said the process of providing relief and compensation to the families of Gulbasha Khatun and Neupane and to bear the medical expenses of the injured has been taken forward.

The ministry has also pledged to spare no effort in the investigation of the girl’s murder and bring the culprit to book.

Demonstrations took place in Bardibas since Tuesday calling for taking action against the murderer of six-year-old Gulbasha (Gulabsa) Khatun, the daughter of Shahid Alam of Bardibas-14.

Gulabsa had disappeared from around her house on Sunday evening and her dead body was found dumped in a sack in a bush near the house on Monday.

Police have arrested 26-year-old Arun Kumar Sah of Gaushala municipality-5 on the charge of killing the girl.
