KATHMANDU: Glocal Pvt. Ltd announced the names of top six finalists for the sixth edition of Wai Wai Glocal Teen Hero Nepal 2020 today.
This year’s competition received 604 applications, from fascinating teenagers demonstrating the diverse potential of their initiation. The applicants had demonstrated their skills and expertise, and made an impact in their society, from areas like academia, social work, entrepreneurship, computer programming, innovation, and health activism.
Ekraj Ghimire (18-year, Environmentalist, Palpa); Mandira Shrestha (19-year, Health Activist, Ramechhap); Reet Kafle, (18-year, Educator, Biratnagar); Subhash Sharma (17 year, Coder , Janakpur); Sulav Subedi, an 18-year-old Innovator from Illam and Vaibhav Nahata (18-year, Entrepreneur, Biratnagar) have been selected as top 6 candidates for the competition, the only national platform in Nepal to recognize and honor the outstanding teenagers.
This is the sixth edition of the first ever program designed in the country to recognize dedicated, passionate, and innovative teenagers so as to encourage their initiatives.
Bipana Sharma, Child Rights Activist and Santosh Lamichhane, a young scientist were felicitated with the First and Second Glocal Teen Hero awards in the years 2015 and 2016 respectively.
Sachin Dangi, Social Activist was felicitated Wai Wai Glocal Teen Hero in 2017. Similarly, Prashansha KC, Social Activist was the Winner of Wai Wai Glocal Teen Hero 2018 & Mr. Samir Phuyal, Tech Enthusiast were recognized as Wai Wai Glocal Teen Hero 2019.
Started from inside the Kathmandu valley only in the year of inception, the competition this year had reached out to teenagers nationwide and conducted online activation sessions in various schools and colleges this year.
From the top 20 teenagers & their document review;
Top Six Finalists was shortlisted for the final round of Glocal Teen Hero Nepal based on initiation and their impact of work. The respected 5-member jury panel had shortlisted these 6 amazing teens (ages 13-19) for their achievements, initiations or contributions in any other field outside of their respective school’s or college’s curriculum.
The finalist screening was done by a jury team comprising of Abdullah Tuncer Kececi (General Manager of Turkish Airlines), Ujjwal Shrestha (Executive Director of Panchakanya Group), Ritu S. Vaidya (Managing Director at United Traders Syndicate Pvt. Ltd.), Varun Chaudhary (Executive Director of Chaudhary Group) and Anil Chitrakar (President of Siddhartha Inc.).
The selection was based on their applications, resume, the evidence and an essay on their accomplishment. They were evaluated on their innovation, achievement and impact and majorly sustainability of their works.
These six teens will now go through a series of Self Competency Workshops on different topics and will also get opportunity to interact with Industry’s top coaches and corporate personalities and widen their knowledge.
The finalists will be individually interviewed by the panel of judges on December 11 and SMS voting round has opened that will also contribute to select THE FANTASTIC TEEN for the year 2020.

Award gala ceremony of the Wai Wai Glocal Teen Hero Nepal 2020 will be held virtually on 12th of December in the presence of different personalities of Nepal from different sectors such as diplomats, politicians, academia, film stars, entrepreneurs, youth leaders and many more.
