Situation of Bardibas turns to normal following 4-pt deal



BARDIBAS: The situation is gradually turning to normal after the agitating side and the local administration inked a four-point agreement in Birdibas municipality of Mahottari district.

A meeting between the agitating side and the district administration office on Wednesday reached an agreement.

According to the agreement, the government will declare the deceased a martyr, provide due compensation to the family of the victim, treatment expenses to the injured, bring the guilty to book at the earliest.

An agitation had started in Bardibas of Mahottari district yesterday also after Buddhiraj Neupane of Bardibas-1, who was injured in police firing on Tuesday, died in course of treatment at the Grande Hospital in Kathmandu.

Neupane a.k.a. Sanjaya had sustained injuries when police opened fire to disperse demonstrators at Bardibas Chowk yesterday.

He was immediately taken on helicopter to Kathmandu for treatment, and he passed away on Tuesday night.

Demonstrators obstructed the highway and shut down the local market and all businesses and burnt tyres at the major cross-roads in Bardibas since the morning yesterday following the news of Neupane’s death.

Demonstrations took place in Bardibas since Tuesday calling for taking action against the murderer of six-year-old Gulbasha (Gulabsa) Khatun, the daughter of Shahid Alam of Bardibas-14.

Gulabsa had disappeared from around her house on Sunday evening and her dead body was found dumped in a sack in a bush near the house on Monday.

Police have arrested 26-year-old Arun Kumar Sah of Gaushala municipality-5 on the charge of killing the girl.
