KATHMANDU: As many as 724 persons have been tested positive for COVID-19 in Kathmandu Valley in the last 24 hours.
According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 583 in Kathmandu, 63 in Bhaktapur and 78 in Lalitpur have been infected with the pandemic virus.
Similarly, four men have died from the coronavirus in the Valley in the last 24 hours.
20-year-old and 74-year-old men in Kathmandu, an 88-year-old in Bhaktapur and 76-year-old in Lalitpur succumbed to COVID-19.
Likewise, Nepal recorded 1,207 new cases of coronavirus in the past 24 hours.
A total of 10,019 persons underwent PCR tests at various laboratories across the country, said Ministry Spokesperson Dr. Jageshwor Gautam.
At a regular press briefing on Saturday, Spokesperson Dr. Gautam informed that the latest update has taken the infection to a total of 71,821in the country.
During the period, 1,147 infected persons restored their normal health. With this, the number of those recovering from the coronavirus has reached 53,013.
The Ministry argued that the recovery rate at present is 73.8 percent.
Currently, there are 18,341 active cases of coronavirus. The institutional isolations have housed 7,833 infected persons and home isolations have 10,508.
Similarly, there are 6,331 persons in quarantines.
Moreover, the number of people receiving treatment at ICU stands at 224, while 27 are in ventilator support.
There are more than 500 coronavirus infected persons in Morang, Siraha, Chitwan, Rupandehi, Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur districts while seven districts have zero cases of the virus-Dolpa, Manang, Rasuwa, Humla, Mugu and Mustang.
Eight persons lost lives to the coronavirus as per recent updates. The latest update reached the total death toll to 467.
