ANWA’s call for action against involved in the rape and murder of Samjhana Kami



KATHMANDU: The All Nepal Women’s Association (ANWA) has demanded action against those involved in the rape and murder of Samjhana Kami of Bajhang. Issuing a statement ANWA coordinator Amrita Thapa has called for impartial investigation into the incident and bring to justice those found guilty in the heinous act.

A resident of Masta rural municipality in Bajhang, 12-year-old Kami was found dead some two kilometers away from her home.

The ANWA has also called for guaranteeing the right of children to live in a fearless environment.

Likewise, ANNFSU Coordinator Ain Mahar has demanded stringent action against those involved in the heinous act of rape against the girl child. He has also demanded proper compensation to the victim family.

Like the recent initiative to punish the acid attackers, the government should amend the existing laws to take stern action against the rapists, Mahar has said in a statement.
