Govt to allow private medical colleges to conduct PCR test



KATHMANDU: The government is set to provide permission to private medical colleges to conduct PCR tests.

With the government’s permission, private medical colleges treating COVID-19 infected patients will be able to set up laboratories.

Dr. Mukunda Sharma of the National Public Health Laboratory said that private medical colleges should allocate one-third of the beds to COVID-19 patients for PCR testing.

The National Public Health Laboratory, Teku, has stated that the standards of the laboratories are required to meet the Health Ministry Directives 2020, which allows private laboratories to perform PCR testing.
