May Gaura Parva augment emotional unity among Nepalis: President Bhandari



KATHMANDU: President Bidya Devi Bhandari has urged one and all to celebrate Gaura Parva maintaining the health safety protocols made by the government to remain safe from the COVID-19 that has turned into a pandemic.

In a message of best wishes on the occasion of Gaura Parva, the festival that is mainly observed among the people in the State No 5, Sudur Paschim State and Karnali State today, President Bhandari wished all the Nepalis at home and abroad good health, peace and prosperity.

Expressing her belief that the Festival would play a role in further augmenting mutual trust and good will and would further strengthen national unity, Bhandari wished that may special cultural festivals like Gaura Parva help augment emotional unity among the Nepalis from different caste, communities and ethnicities with their specific cultures and festivities.

In the festival which is primarily dedicated to Goddess Parvati and her union with Lord Shiva, women observe fast and worship the Lord Shiva and Parvati. Besides this, women and men are engaged in dancing jubilantly in the cultural dance named ‘Deuda’.

The celebration is believed to bring happiness and prosperity and amity among those spouses. RSS
