India’s COVID-19 death toll crosses 32,000-mark

NEW DELHI: India reported 48,472 fresh COVID-19 cases on Saturday.

The death toll has now mounted to 32,096 with 692 deaths in the past 24 hours as the pandemic’s massive surge continues, as per the record maintained by worldometers.

So far, India has recorded 13,36,861 confirmed COVID-19 cases, including 31,358 deaths, according to news agency PTI.

Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Delhi and Karnataka have reported the highest number of cases.

However, infections are rising rapidly in states like Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Assam. Yet, India’s recovery rate continues to rise and now stands at 63.5 percent.
