NHRC urges not to obstruct in managing dead body of COVID-19 victim



KATHMANDU: The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has urged not to obstruct the management of the dead body of the people who have died from COVID-19.

The commission has urged the government to create an environment for managing bodies in coordination with the local level.

In a press release issued by the Secretary of the commission, Bed Prasad Bhattarai today, all the local stakeholders have been requested to cooperate in the effective implementation of the procedures implemented by the government in the current special circumstances.

The commission has made the request while drawing attention to the incident of clash between security personnel, local people’s representatives and locals during the management of the body of a person who died from COVID-19 in Pokhara Metropolitan City-32 of Kaski.

According to the commission’s monitoring, the situation has become tense as the security personnel are using force to manage the body of the deceased.
