12 including ward chair arrested for youth’s murder



JAJARKOT: Twelve persons including the chair of ward no. 8 of Chaurjahari municipality have been arrested on the charge of killing youths in Rukum west on Saturday evening.

A clash had reportedly taken place between a group of youths led by Nawaraj BK,21, of Bheri municipality-4, Jajarkot and locals of the municipality.

BK had reportedly gone to marry his girlfriend from Chaurhahari when the locals attacked them allegedly for trying to marry a girl from the so-called high caste family.

Ward chair Damber Malla and 11 others have been arrested, confirmed Deputy Superintendent of Police Thak Bahadur KC at the District Police Office, Rukum west.

Three of the youths have been found dead while four are still missing.

So far, the bodies of BK, Tikaram Sunar of ward no. 1 of Chaurjahari municipality and Ganesh Budha of Bheri municipality-1 have been recovered. Sanju BK, Govinda Shahi, Lokendra Sunar and Gopal Budhathoki are still missing, DSP KC said.

Among the 19 youths who had gone to allegedly help their friend marry the 17-year-old girl, 12 have been injured. The villagers had attacked the youths based on racial ground.

Further investigation is underway, as the parents of the deceased have called for action against the guilty while staging a sit-in. RSS
