NC comes up with 7-point special proposal to ‘rescue’ economy

KATHMANDU: Economy Focused Special Committee of Nepali Congress has prepared a special proposal to ‘rescue’ the COVID-19 struck Nepali economy.

Main opposition Party in the parliament, Nepali Congress has come up with a special proposal to rescue the pandemic struck the national economy. The Economy Focused Special Committee formed under the coordination of former Finance Minister Dr. Ram Sharan Mahat, has prepared a report with recommendations for the way out of this pandemic struck economic crisis.

The report based on the analysis of economists has offered a 7-point recommendation to help the economy overcome the crisis.

The report has minutely analyzed the problems under various topics like coronavirus transmission and the economy, the destination and direction of the forthcoming budget, youth employment, agriculture and food security, health education, industry business and tourism, monetary and financial policy, infrastructure development and relief, and economic guidelines ahead.

The report has concluded that efficient management, democratic philosophy and lifestyle along with good governance and community participation are the most essential phenomenon to overcome the hazards created by COVID-19 pandemic.

The report has warned the government not to act against the established democratic norms and values.

“The socialism oriented state sensitive enough to understand the human feelings, the system based on pluralism and democratic principles, civil rights and the freedom of expression  should not be targeted against on any pretext,”  the report says.”

The  Economy focused Special Committee formed under the coordination of Dr. Ram Sharan Mahat had Mahesh Acharya, Dr. Narayan Khadka, Gyanendra Bahadur Karki, Dr. Minendra Rijal, Chinkaji Shrestha, Deep Kumar Upadhyaya, Bharat Shah, Uday Shumsher Rana, Prithvi Raj Ligal, Dr. Shankar Sharma, Dr. Jagadish Chandra Pokhrel, Dr. Govinda Raj Pokhrel and Dr. Swornim Wagle as its members.
