Nepal reports fourth COVID-19 death as 70-yr-old dies in Birgunj



KATHMANDU: An elderly who passed away in the course of treatment at National Medical College, Birgunj has been diagnosed with the Coronavirus, taking  the death tally to four in Nepal.

A 70-year-old person was diagnosed with novel virus after his report came out to be positive eight days after his death. He has been identified as the resident of Kalaiya Sub Metropolitan City-7.

The septuagenarian, who had been admitted to the hospital on May 15 after he complained of respiratory problems, had died on May 17.

His swab specimen report tested at National Public Health Laboratory, Kathmandu came out to be positive, confirmed Assistant Chief District Officer of Parsa Lalit Kumar Basnet. The swab specimen result came out today, eight days after the death of the eldderly.

In a height of negligence,  the dead body of the elderly had been handed over to the family.

Accepting the fact, Assistant CDO said an investigation into the case has been initiated.

He was confirmed to have died from the Coronavirus only at 10 am today by the Ministry of Health and Population. Meanwhile, the contact-tracing has been initiated said Basnet.
