Drug peddler killed in clash with police



SAHASAUl: A person died in the clash between drug traffickers and police at Sahasaul, Ramgopalpur municipality-7 in Mahottari district last night. The deceased is 16-year-old Rajan, the son of Surendra Yadav of the same locality, Superintendent of Police, Shyam Krishna Adhikari, said.

Police has arrested 50-year-old Surendra and 27-year-old Rahul Yadav of the same place, claiming them to be drug traffickers.

A clash took place between a team of police in plainclothes deputed from the District Police Office and the drug smugglers on the road at around 8 pm on Sunday at Ramgopalpur-7.

The police team was deputed on a tip-off that a large cache of drug was being traded during the lockdown.

Police said Rajan died on the spot when police opened fire in self defence after the drug traffickers tried to attack the police encircling them.

Surendra and Rahul were arrested from the spot. Police also confiscated some Nitrovet, a banned drug, from the site.

Police head constable Sanjeev Paswan and constables Ram Bihari Paswan, Manoj Saha and Lalbabu Yadav have sustained serious injuries in the clash. They are undergoing treatment at the District Hospital Jaleshwor. RSS
