Press Council shuts down 70 news portals



KATHMANDU: Press Council Nepal (PCN) has taken action against 70 news portals on the charge of disseminating false, baseless and misleading news.

The PCN shut down 70 news portals after they were found disseminating news without registration. Meanwhile, it has sought clarification from reputed media houses.

The new portals which were found disseminating misleading news without registration from March 23 to May 21 have been shut down, according to the Council.

The Council said they had disseminated false and fabricated news related to Coronavirus pandemic, said Kishor Shrestha, President of the Council.
