Around 3,693 Nepalis entered Nepal from Belhiya in a week

BHAIRAHAWA: Formerly widely criticized as ‘inconsiderate’ towards the migrant workers and the Nepalis stranded in border, the government has intensified the rescue of ‘in most woes’ returnees stranded in Indian borders in last few days.

According to the border sources, 3,693 Nepalis entered Nepal via Rupandehi’s Belahiya point in a week.

“As many as 495 people entered on May 13, some 239 on May 16, another 165 on May 17 entered Nepal,” a security personnel deployed at the border said offering details.

Likewise, according to him, some 436 Nepalis entered on May 19, and 110 on May 20. Likewise, 1,185 people entered Nepal on May 22 and 1,063 on May 23 making the total number of people arriving here 3,693 in a week.

Besides, thousands of people crossed the border and entered Nepal through the porous border clandestinely.

Prior to such rescue efforts the government was severely criticized for its ‘indifference’ towards the citizens stranded at the border for more than a month.

The quarantines set up at the borders on next side were overcrowded and unsafe. Some of them had taken to chanting slogans against the government and had even started ‘fast onto death’ which had put the Indian administration into difficulty.
