Sarlahi administration stops local levels to pick up people from Kathmandu

SARLAHI: The local administration in Sarlahi, a district in State2, has banned local levels from bringing locals home from Kathmandu Valley amidst the nationwide lockdown implemented by the government to stem the spread of coronavirus.

The number of people entering the district is on the rise from outside primarily from the Kathmandu Valley in the wake of lockdown which has been extended till April 27.

Earlier, the local governments were picking up stranded pedestrians from Kathmandu and dropping them in their destinations back to home as people were walking for days to reach homes.

Chief District Officer Mohan Bahadur GC said bringing people home from Kathmandu by bus is the breach of lockdown. ”Lockdown means the restrictions in people’s movement and it requires people to stay where they are so that we can control the transmission of the virus,” he reminded.

Various local levels including Lalbandi, Hariwan, and Bagmati municipalities had brought the locals by sending buses to Kathmandu. However, Hariwan municipality mayor Ganesh Prasad Prasai expressed his discontent over the decision of local administration.
