Coronavirus spreads to 12 districts in Nepal

KATHMANDU: With Coronavirus wreaking havoc across the word, it has not spared Nepal, too.

A total of 12 districts have been affected by the novel virus in the period of three months after a first case of COVID-19 was detected in the country on January 24.

Some of those infected with the virus have recovered after treatment.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister KP Oli on Friday expressed happiness over the home return of a COVID-19 infected senior citizen.

An 81-year-old citizen was discharged from a Kathmandu-based hospital after full recovery of COVID-19 yesterday.

Even though the Kathmandu Valley has no coronavirus cases following the recovery of the octogenarian, it is still not free from the risk of the Coronavirus.

Similarly, novel virus cases have been found in State 1, State 2, Bagmati Pradesh, Gandaki Pradesh and Sudurpashchim Pradesh.

Kathmandu, Dhading, Chitwan, Kailali, Kanchanpur, Baglung, Parsa, Rautahat, Udayapur, Bhojpur, Sarlahi and Jhapa have been affected by the novel virus.

Three cases have been found in Kathmandu, one in Dhading, four in Kailali, 28 in Udayapur,  four in Baglung, two in Chitwan, one in Dhading one each in Sarlahi,  Bhojpur and Jhapa.

Similarly, one case has been found in Rautahat, three in Parsa and one in Kanchanpur.

Kailali, Kanchanpur, Doti, Accham, Baglung, Jumla are at high risk from the novel virus. Currently, a total of 12, 985 are in quarantine, with most of them from India.

State 1 has the highest number of infection cases where 29 are undergoing treatment at Koshi Zonal Hospital in Biratnagar.
