Death toll in US climbs to 52,168 after 1,934 die in 24 hrs



KATHMANDU: America, the worst-hit in terms of both deaths and infection cases, has witnessed 1,934 deaths in the last 24 hours, taking the tally to 52,168 as of Saturday morning.

With 37, 960 new cases, the number of infection cases has reached 924,402 according to the latest figures collated by Worldometer.

Currently, 761,802 coronavirus patients are undergoing treatment at various hospitals across America, of which the condition of 15, 097 is critical.  Meanwhile, 92,355 have recovered after treatment.

New York is the worst-hit with 21, 283 deaths followed by New Jersey and Michigan with 5, 617 and 3, 085 deaths, respectively.

The US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) had declared Coronavirus a Public Health Emergency on January 31 in the US.

Broke out in Wuhan City of China last December, the deadly virus has spread to 210 countries including two international conveyances across the world, killing 197, 074 and infecting 2,827, 902 people as of Saturday morning.
