Cinema halls open across country after nine months

KATHMANDU: Films industries have resumed operations from today almost after nine months.

Film industries operators have unilaterally resumed operations even though the government has not allowed them to do so for the fear of COVID-19 infections.

The Nepal Motion Pictures’ Association said they would operate movie halls with only  50 percent of audiences, adopting health safety measures.

Both single and multiplex movie halls have opened throughout the country on Friday, said Ashok Sharma, the General Secretary of the Association.

Films industries had remained shut since March 24 when the Nepal government imposed lockdown in the country to stem the COVID-19 spread.
