Six local levels in Khotang district resume schools, four others planning



KHOTANG: Six among 10 local levels in the district have resumed schools while four others are planning for it.

After the federal government gave authority to the local levels to continue teaching-learning disrupted much with Covid-19 pandemic, the six levels here resumed the schools.

The Covid-19 has affected schools for nearly the entire session.

Strict implementation of health safety standard is stressed in the resumption of schools. Some local levels are also planning for it though the fear of the spread of coronavirus is still gripping the people.

Diktel Rupakot Majhuwagadhi Municipality in the district started schools by adhering to the health and safety standard.

The teachers and employees at the schools were provided orientation on maintaining safety before resuming the class. The skills on use of sanitizer, mask and thermal gun were taught for the safety of teachers, employees and students.

The municipality asked the schools not to conduct morning assembly but run class by maintaining physical distance. There will be only two students in a bench.

The teachers, parents, students and other staffs compulsorily wear mask and use sanitizers. Every school has been provided thermal gun by the municipality.

There are more than 100 schools including private-run in the municipality.

Similarly, a focal person in each school takes stock of a student’s health condition. The students are not allowed to walk outside in a carefree manner but walk straight to school from home. They are also urged not to exchange textbooks and stationers with friends. Once the student gets fever, he/she is requested to stay at home.

Mayor Dipnarayan Rijal said, “The schools are directed to resume classes by following 29-point health and safety standard.”

Moreover, Haleshi Tuwachung Municipality having 88 community and four private schools is all set to resume class in a safe way, according to Mayor Iwan Rai.

Rawabeshi Rural Municipality began the classes six days back. Evan a meeting of the education committee has been called on how the teaching learning could make effective.

Aishelukharka is another Rural Municipality to resume schools. The local level having the huge number of students asked for running class based on odd-even roll number. Chief of the rural municipality Bishwonath Niraula informed that the schools began classes since last Sunday.

The schools in Kopilasgadhi Rural Municipality are in list that opened the schools. There are 37 community and two private schools.

Khotehang Rural Municipality has called a meeting on resumption of schools. Chairman Pradip Kumar Rai informed that the meeting would decide for the resumption of teaching-learning activities. There are 49 community and two private schools.

Preparations are underway in other local levels as Sakela Rural Municipality and Bahrapokhari Rural Municipality to conduct class in a safe way. RSS
