KATHMANDU: Kings XI Punjab has defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by 12 runs in an Indian Premier League (IPL) in the United Arab Emirates.
Held in Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Saturday night, Hyderabad was limited to mere 114 runs while chasing the 127-run target set by Punjab.
Hyderabad’s captain David Warner top-scored with 35 runs including three fours and two sixes off 20 balls. V Shankar, JM Bairstow and MK Pandey made 26, 19 and 15 runs respectively.
Punjab’s Arshdeep Singh and CJ Jordan claimed highest three wickets each of Hyderabad.
Earlier, invited to bat first after losing the toss, Punjab made 126 runs losing seven wickets in the allotted 20 overs.
Punjab’s N Pooran made highest 32 runs including two fours off 28 balls while captain KL Rahul and Mandeep Singh 27 and 17 runs respectively.
In reply, Sandeep Sharma, JO Holder and Rashid Khan took two wickets each.
With this win, Punjab is in the fifth position with 10 points from 11 games. It has also kept the possibility of playoff alive.
