Massive landslide sweeps away 17 houses in Arghakhanchi, dozens at risk



BUTWAL: A massive landslide in Shitganga Municipality of Arghakhanchi has swept away 17 houses on Friday afternoon.

According to Babu Ram Gaire, Chairman of Shitganga-2, the landslides that occurred in Kothiya Maidan, Jokhle Gaira Gaun of the Municipality, have washed away 17 houses and put dozens of homes at risk.

He said that no human casualty has been reported.

“Now, the landslide is still active, the stones are still falling, 17 houses have already been washed away, and dozens are put at risk,” Ward Chairman Gaire said, “The displaced people are taking shelter in a nearby school.”

Inspector Babu Ram Basnet of Area Police Office Thada stated that police were busy in rescue efforts despite the adverse topography.
