Six more die of COVID-19, Nepal’s death toll hits 459

KATHMANDU: A total of six more COVID-19 patients, including two in Kathmandu Valley, died in the last 24 hours.

Nepal’s Ministry of Health and Population stated that the death toll from the pandemic has reached 459 with the new fatalities as of Friday afternoon.

A total of three men and three women succumbed to the coronavirus, according to the Ministry.

A 55-year-old man in Morang, a 70-year-old man in Saptari and a 51-year-old man in Lalitpur died of the coronavirus.

Likewise, a woman aged 60 years in Morang, 75 years in Kathmandu and 70 years in Kapilvastu succumbed to the pandemic.

A total of 17 more COVID-19 patients, including six in Kathmandu Valley, had died on Thursday in a record high fatality recorded in a single day.

Meanwhile, a total of 1,313 new cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in the country in the last 24 hours.

The confirmation was made in 12,262 PCR tests carried out in various laboratories across the country. The total number of infections has reached 70,614.

Speaking at the routine daily press meet at the Ministry of Health and Population on Friday, Spokesperson Dr. Jageshwor Gautam said 1,455 people recovered to their normal health in the past 24 hours. So far, 51,866 people have recovered from the deadly virus.

The number of active cases of coronavirus is 18,289.
