PM Oli, NCP Chair Dahal agree to hold Secretariat meet on Aug 29

KATHMANDU: Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Prime Minister KP Oli have agreed to hold the party’s Secretariat meeting on August 29 to iron out the intra-party dispute.

The meeting between the two heavyweights held at Baluwatar this morning agreed to call the Secretariat meeting at 11 am (August 29), said Prime Minister’s Press Advisor Surya Thapa.

Posting a twitter message, Thapa said a two-hour-long meeting held between NCP Chairman Dahal and Prime Minister Oli at the latter’s official residence is over. “They have agreed to call the party’s Secretariat meeting on August 29. The meeting scheduled for 11 am on the day will discuss the report submitted by the takforce,” tweeted Thapa.

The meeting earlier scheduled for Monday was postponed citing busy schedule of the Prime Minister.

The six-member task force led by NCP General Secretary Bishnu Poudel had last week submitted a report to Dahal and Oli.

The task force has suggested the party leadership to hold a meeting of the Standing Committee meeting as soon as possible.

Likewise, the task force has also suggested them to call the party’s central committee to thrash out the existing differences.

The task force has suggested the party leadership that while Dahal looked after the party affairs, Oli would lead the government, among others.

The task force has even suggested the leadership on cabinet reshuffle, replacing some Chief Ministers, and holding a general convention from April 7 to 12 next year to resolve ideological issues.

The task force has also suggested that the issue of PM Oli’s resignation will not be on the agenda of the Standing Committee meeting, which has been postponed from July 2.

The members in the task force include NCP leaders Bhim Rawal, Shankar Pokharel, Janardan Sharma, Surendra Pandey and Pampha Bhusal.
