31 RPP leaders including Sunil Thapa resign en masse

KATHMANDU: A total of 31 leaders of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) including former minister Sunil Bahadur Thapa have resigned en masse on Saturday.

In an open letter to three Chairmen—Kamal Thapa, Pashupati Shumsher Rana and Prakash Chandra Lohani—the leaders have announced their resignations.

Among those who have resigned are members of the high-level working committee Sunil Thapa, Vishnu Vikram Thapa, Baburam Basnet, Padma Bahadur Basnet, party spokesperson Kiran Giri, central members Dilip Rai, Asharam Chaudhary, Chandra Kumar Ghunde Gurung, Rajyalakshmi Shrestha, Chaturman Bishwakarma and Ram Padarath Sahal among others.

They have mentioned in the resignation letter that the party has failed to move ahead as per the people’s mandate even they drew the attention of the party time and again. The Thapa faction alleges that inclusiveness in the formation of various bodies, including the post-unity secretariat working committee, has been completely ignored.

It is learned that Sunil is preparing to join the Nepali Congress along with his group.
