Haripurwa municipality chief alleged of beating people’s representative



SARLAHI: Chief administrative officer of Haripurwa municipality in Sarlahi district has been alleged of physically assaulting a people’s representative.

Haripurwa municipality-3 ward chair Dharma Raj Singh was allegedly beaten up by municipality chief administrative officer Sakaldev Raya on Thursday evening.

Police have arrested Raya, his elder brother Lalbabu Raya and a local Shailendra Yadav on the charge of their involvements in the beating, said District Police Office Sarlahi’s police chief, Superintendent of Police Bishwamani Pokhrel.

The ward chair has beating injury in several parts of the body and on Friday was taken to Dhapakhel-based Sumeru Hospital in Lalitur after primary treatment at the District Hospital Malangawa, according to the family source.

Lalbabu and Shailendra were detained on Thursday itself and the chief administration officer on Friday for interrogation.

It is learnt that the relations between the two: Mahato and Raya had turned sour since the past few days as a group of youths closes to Raya teased a woman who is a close relative of ward chair Mahato during a local religious festival. The beating is believed to be consequence of the same event, according to locals.

The family has filed an FIR on the murder attempt charge against four people including Yadav at the District Police Office, Sarlahi. RSS
