Delhi CM Kejriwal urges recovered patients to donate blood plasma

NEW DELHI: Chief Minister of Delhi Arvind Kejriwal has urged recovered novel coronavirus patients to donate their blood plasma to save people’s lives, pointing at the ‘encouraging’ results seen in trials.

Four patients who had undergone plasma therapy at a hospital in Delhi have showed ‘positive’ results, according to Dr SK Sarin, Director of the Institute of Liver and Biliary Science.

The plasma therapy is done on the basis of the premise that blood from a coronavirus-recovered patient contains antibodies that has the ability to fight the pathogen, Indian media reports have said.

Cm Kejriwal said that the Delhi government has received permission for limited trials, and will seek the permission to treat all such patients.

He urged people who’ve recovered to save others’ lives.
