Leakage in hospital troubles patients, medics in Dadeldhura

DADELDHURA: Water leakage from the roof of the only Specialized Hospital of Sudurpashchim Province has caused inconvenience to both the patients and the health workers alike.

The only Special Hospital at Dadeldhura saw a pitiable sight when the rain leaking from its roof made the patients shift their beds from one corner to another.

“The patients had to shift their beds due to the water leakage from the roof,” Dharma Raj Bhatta, a patient who had gone to the hospital for treatment, complained about the nuisance caused by rainfall on Thursday.

“Water leakage is a big problem for this hospital providing specialized facility to the patients of all seven districts of the area,” one of the staffs told insisting anonymity. “When it rains in the area, we have to shift the beds from one corner to another.”

“When it rains, the wards in the hospital turn a poor sight,” Dhirendra Shahi, a caretaker of one of the patients told Khabarhub, “The hospital trying to provide its service to the general patients even during lockdown looks sick and both the patients and the doctors are worried.”

Medical Superintendent of the hospital, Dr. Jagadish Chandra Bista confessed that there were problems related to the infrastructure.”

“In the absence of well-built structures, we are compelled to provide service from a building at HCDS, an NGO had built long before,” he said.

“There is leakage problem,” Bista said, adding, “Due to some flaws at the time of construction it’s really difficult to work here when it rains.”

He informed that once the new building under construction is complete, the problem would be solved.

The poor infrastructure of the hospital has made the mockery of the federal government’s high promises of turning it the Specialized Hospital of the Province.
