Coronavirus death toll crosses 190,800 globally with over 2.7mln infected

KATHMANDU: With Coronavirus wreaking havoc across the world, the death toll from the novel virus has climbed to 190,800 after 6,569 people died in the last 24 hours as of Friday morning.

According to the latest figures collated by Worldometer, with 84,535 new cases, the number of infection cases has reached 2, 716,320.

Currently, 1,780,724 people are undergoing treatment at various hospitals across the world, of which 58, 678 are critical.

Meanwhile, 745,100 have recovered after treatment.

America, the worst-hit in terms of both deaths and infection cases, has witnessed 2,322 deaths in the last 24 hours, taking the tally to 49,842 as of Friday morning.

With 31, 419 new cases, the number of infection cases has reached 880,136 according to the latest figures collated by Worldometer.

Currently, 744,615 coronavirus patients are undergoing treatment at various hospitals across America, of which the condition of 14, 997 is critical.  Meanwhile, 89,250 have recovered after treatment.

New York is the worst-hit with 20, 861 deaths followed by New Jersey and Michigan with 5, 428 and 2, 977 deaths, respectively.

The US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) had declared Coronavirus a Public Health Emergency on January 31 in the US.

Italy, the second worst-hit country in terms of deaths, has witnessed 464 deaths in the last 24 hours, taking the death toll to 25,549 as of Friday morning.

With 2,646 new cases, the number of infection cases has reached 189, 973, the third highest in terms of infection cases, after Spain and America.

Currently, 101,617 people are undergoing treatment at various hospitals in the country, of which 2,267 are critical. Meanwhile, 57,576 have recovered after treatment.

Spain has the second highest number of infection cases with 213, 024 after the United States of America (USA).

The country reported 4, 635 infection cases, 440 deaths in the last 24 hours. A total of 22, 157 have died due to the novel virus as of Friday morning.

Currently, 101,617 are undergoing treatment at various hospitals in the country, of which 7,705 are critical.

Meanwhile, 89, 250 have recovered after treatment.

The United Kingdom (UK) has reported 638 new deaths taking the total tally to 18,738 as of Friday morning.

With 4,583 new cases, the number of infection cases has surged to 138,078 according to Worldometer.

Currently, 118,996 people are undergoing treatment at various hospitals in the country, of which 1, 559 are critical.

France has registered 21, 856 deaths after 516 died in a single day.

With 2,239 new cases, the total number of infection cases has surged to 158, 183 as of Friday morning.

Currently, 94, 239 are undergoing treatment at various hospitals in the country, of which 5,053 are critical. Meanwhile, 42,088 have returned home after recovery.

India has reported 721 deaths from Coronavirus after 40 died in the last 24 hours as Friday morning.

With 1, 669 new cases, the number of infection cases has reached  23, 039.

Currently, 17, 306 are undergoing treatment at various hospitals in the country while 5, 012 have returned home after recovery. The India government has conducted tests on 500, 542 people for Coronavirus so far.

Broke out in Wuhan City of China last December, the deadly virus has spread to 210 countries including two international conveyances across the world, killing 190, 496 and infecting 2,716, 320 people as of Friday morning.
