Coronavirus kills nearly 50,000 in US as 2,322 die in 24 hrs

KATHMANDU: America, the worst-hit in terms of both deaths and infection cases, has witnessed 2,322 deaths in the last 24 hours, taking the tally to 49,842 as of Friday morning.

With 31, 419 new cases, the number of infection cases has reached 880,136 according to the latest figures collated by Worldometer.

Currently, 744,615 coronavirus patients are undergoing treatment at various hospitals across America, of which the condition of 14, 997 is critical.  Meanwhile, 89,250 have recovered after treatment.

New York is the worst-hit with 20, 861 deaths followed by New Jersey and Michigan with 5, 428 and 2, 977 deaths, respectively.

The US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) had declared Coronavirus a Public Health Emergency on January 31 in the US.

Broke out in Wuhan City of China last December, the deadly virus has spread to 210 countries including two international conveyances across the world, killing 190, 496 and infecting 2,716, 320 people as of Friday morning.
