NC leader Dr. Mahat urges Nepali diaspora to be safe and keep others safe

KATHMANDU: Former Foreign Minister and Joint-General Secretary of Nepali Congress Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat has urged the Nepali diaspora to keep themselves safe and help keep others safe.

In a message written during the first day of the official lockdown announced by the Government of Nepal, Dr. Mahat has expressed his deep concern towards Nepalis living abroad.

Saying that ‘we are currently living in a difficult time’, Dr. Mahat said that the global community is facing an unprecedented crisis not only in terms of the toll the coronavirus (COVID-19) is taking on human lives and health but its impact is also felt on the industry, businesses and the livelihood of ordinary people worldwide.

“Nepal is feeling the pinch lately,” he said adding, “If the government and the people of Nepal take a serious lesson from other countries about what works and what does not, we may be able to minimize the damage.”

“The Nepali diaspora is large and is spread throughout the world. Many Nepalis living abroad are already getting severely affected,” he said urging them to keep themselves safe and help keep others safe.

He also urged the Jana Samparka Samitis worldwide and NRNA to give exemplary leadership to unite all Nepali diaspora to fight against this menace.
