JSP requests Speaker Sapkota to summon House meeting

KATHMANDU: Leaders of the Janata Samajwadi Party Nepal called on Speaker of the House of Representatives Agni Prasad Sapkota and requested him to convene a meeting of the House of Representatives.

Stating that the constitution has not given the right to the Prime Minister to dissolve the House of Representatives, leaders said that the Parliament is still alive and requested the Speaker to convene a meeting.

A Central Executive Committee meeting of the party on Tuesday had decided to request the Speaker of the House of Representatives to convene a parliamentary session.

Speaker Sapkota too has been saying that the Parliament cannot be dissolved as long as there is an option to form a government.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, Speaker Sapkota said that a clear provision has been made to form a government in the House of Representatives as per Article 76 of the Constitution.
