Thapa likely to be Vice Chairman

KATHMANDU: The Central Committee meeting of the Nepal Communist Party’s Prime Minister KP Oli-led faction is underway at Baluwatar.

This is the second Central Committee meeting of the Oli faction held after the dissolution of the House of Representatives (HoR).

According to central member Badri Bishal Pokhrel, Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa “Badal” is also participating in the meeting.

Likewise, the meeting is also likely to appoint Thapa as the party’s Vice Chairman.

He informed that the meeting is aimed at increasing the number of Secretariat members, making preparations for the upcoming general election, and deploying cadres in the local levels to expose the obstacles created by the disgruntled faction led by Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda” and Madhav Kumar Nepal.

Earlier on Tuesday, a central committee meeting of the Oli faction had announced a 1,199-member general convention organizing committee by adding 556 central members.
