IPL2020:  Mumbai beats Chennai to top points tally



KATHMANDU:  Defending Champion Mumbai Indians has topped the points tally in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Held at Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Friday night, Mumbai Indians defeated Chennai Super Kings by 10 wickets.

Chasing the 115-run target, Mumbai reached it in 12.2 overs without losing the target.

Mumbai’s Ishan Kishan top-scored with 68 runs studded with six fours and five sixes off 37 balls while Q de Kock contributed 46 runs including five fours and two sixes.

Earlier, invited to bat first after losing the toss, Chennai notched up 114 runs losing nine wickets in the allotted 20 overs.

SM Curran made highest 52 runs including four fours and two sixes off 47 runs while Captain MS Dhoni and Imran Tahir secured 16 and 13 runs respectively.

In reply, Mumbai’s TA Boult took highest four wickets to limit the opponent to paltry 114 runs. JJ Bumrah and RD Chahar grabbed two wickets each.

With this win, Mumbai is atop the points table with 14 points from 10 games. Chennai is at the bottom with six points from 11 games.
