743 new cases of coronavirus infection recorded in last 24 hrs

KATHMANDU: The country witnessed 743 new cases of coronavirus infection in the past 24 hours including 224 from the Kathmandu Valley, the Ministry of Health and Population shared in a daily press briefing on Monday afternoon.

With this, the total number of coronavirus cases reached 32,678 in the country while 11,275 individuals are now quarantined.

Ministry’s Spokesperson Dr. Jageshwor Gautam said that 246 are women out of total new cases. So far, the country conducted the PCR tests of 610,469 individuals.

According to the Ministry of Health, 177 people in Kathmandu, 33 in Lalitpur, 14 in Bhaktapur, one in Ilam, one in Udayapur, three in Okhaldhunga, four in Khotang, five in Jhapa, two in Dhankuta, 31 in Morang and two in Sankhuwasabha have tested coronavirus positive.

Similarly, 23 in Sunsari, five in Dhanusha, 34 in Parsa, 94 in Bara, five in Rautahat, 15 in Saptari, eight in Sarlahi, 10 in Siraha, five in Kavre, 32 in Chitwan, one in Dolakha, two in Dhading, 18 in Makwanpur, two in Ramechhap, five in Sindhupalchowk, two in Kaski and one in Gorkha have contracted the coronavirus.

According to the ministry, three people have been infected in Tanahun, three in Nawalparasi, one in Myagdi, one in Baglung, one in Syangja, one in Arghakhanchi, nine in Kapilvastu, four in Gulmi and two in Palpa.

One person has been infected in Bardiya, eight in Banke, six in Rupandehi, two in Rolpa, three in Kalikot, 19 in Jajarkot, 18 in Rukum, 11 in Surkhet, 19 in Kanchanpur, 79 in Kailali, four in Dadeldhura, one in Darchula, one in Bajura and three in Baitadi.

Likewise, 175 people returned home after winning the battle against the virus in the past 24 hours.

Dr. Gautam shared that eight more individuals died of coronavirus infection in the last 24 hours.

The total death toll from coronavirus infection reached 157 in the country with recent updates.

Currently, the country has 13,715 active cases of coronavirus infection while 4,561 individuals are in home isolation.

Similarly, 138 people are receiving treatment in ICU and 15 coronavirus patients from Bagmati Province are in ventilators.
