Nepal’s COVID-19 death toll reaches 45 after girl dies in Birgunj



KATHMANDU: Nepal’s death toll from coronavirus reached 45 on Friday evening after a 17-year-old girl died while undergoing treatment at the COVID-19 Special Hospital in Birgunj.

A girl from Bara’s Parwanipur Rural Municipality-4 died at Gandak Hospital on Friday afternoon.

Earlier, she was admitted to Narayani Hospital on Wednesday and was rushed to Birgunj Health Care Hospital after her health condition deteriorated.

The girl was admitted to Gandak COVID-19 Temporary Hospital on Thursday on suspicion of coronavirus infection after she tested positive in RDT.

Her swab sample was sent for a PCR test and the report came positive for coronavirus this evening, according to Dr. Neeraj Singh.

However, the Ministry of Health and Population is yet to confirm the death.

The hospital has stated that she had also tested positive for scrub typhus.
