Bharatpur Metropolis unveils Rs 4.15 billion budget



BHARATPUR: The Bharatpur Metropolis has unveiled the budget of Rs 4.15 billion for the fiscal year 2020/20 Wednesday.

The budget was presented before the sixth Metropolitan Assembly. Among the total budget, Rs 480 million has been allocated under the current expenditure.

Unveiling the budget, Deputy Mayor of the Metropolitan City, Parbati Sah Thakuri said the budget was focused on quarantine management and treatment of the COVID-19 infected persons and creation of jobs to those returned home from abroad in the wake of pandemic.

Fundamental rights of the people in the Metropolis would be gradually addressed, she said, adding that the resources would be identified and mobilized to make the Metropolis prosperous.

For the prosperity of the Metropolis, economic, physical, social and environmental infrastructures would be created as per the budget.

The budget has made the list of 11 priority area including urban beauty and land utilization, improvement on access to health service, education, agriculture and livestock development, environment conservation and greenery promotion and disaster management.

Earlier, Mayor Renu Dahal presented the policy and programmes of the Metropolitan City.

As the entire country was coping up with the COVID-19, the Metropolis was also working actively to stay away from the spread of corona virus.

She said Corona Special Temporary Hospital and COVID-19 laboratory were set up in the city and every ward had quarantines.

She informed that the Metropolitan City blacktopped some 300 km roadway in the last three years.
