Sudurpaschim State Assembly meeting postponed

DHANGADHI: The Sudurpaschim State Assembly meeting has been adjourned on Wednesday due to obstruction by Nepali Congress and Rastriya Janata Party.

Opposition party lawmakers stood up from their seats and obstructed the session as soon as Speaker Arjun Bahadur Thapa started the meeting.

Even though the Speaker urged the legislators to take their seats and allow the Assembly to proceed with its business, opposition party legislators did not heed to the Speaker’s request.

Dr Rana Bahadur Rawal, Nepali Congress leader protested saying that people kept in quarantine were being sent home without carrying out health check-up, that the risk of coronavirus infection has increased as they were not subjected to PCR test and the poor management of the quarantine.

He also accused the government of negligence in all these aspects and demanded making arrangements for health check-up through PCR method at the earliest.

He also called for better management of the quarantines and making the COVID-19 prevention and control effective.

The Speaker announced that the meeting has been adjourned as the opposition parties continued protesting even after this.
