Nepal reports 629 new cases, COVID-19 count reaches 10,728

KATHMANDU: Nepal has confirmed 629 new cases of coronavirus in the past 24 hours.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, with the addition of the cases, total cases in Nepal have reached 10,728.

Speaking at a regular press briefing on Wednesday afternoon, Spokesperson at the Ministry, Dr. Jageshwor Gautam said that among the newly-infected are 519 males and 110 females.

The new cases were detected in Jhapa, Sunsari, Morang, Saptari, Dhanusa, Mahottari, Sarlahi, Achham, Baitadi, Bajura, Doti, Kailali, Kanchanpur, Parbat, Rautahat, Dhading, Kathmandu, Chitwan, Tanahun, Nawalparasi (East), Palpa, Bhaktapur, Gorkha, Kaski, Baglung, Lamjung, Syangja, Gulmi, Kapilvastu, Rupandehi, Banke, Bardiya, Dang, Pyuthan, Jajarkot, Surkhet and Kalikot.

In the last 24 hours, 6,828 samples have been tested through PCR, said Spokesperson Dr. Gautam.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 457,920 samples have been tested for coronavirus in Nepal so far. Of these, 193,194 samples were tested through the PCR and 283,696 through the RDT.

Meanwhile, 114 COVID-19 patients, 106 males and eight females receiving treatment at Jaleshwor Hospital, Mahottari, COVID-19 Hospital, Janakpur, Sindhuli Hospital, Bharatpur Hospital, BPKIHS, Dharan, Damauli Hospital, Tanahun, Dhaulagiri Hospital, Baglung, Gorkha Hospita, Kalika Hospital, Syangja and GP Koirala Hospital have been discharged in the last 24 hours after recovering from the virus infection.

At present, 8,366 people are in isolation and 73869 are in quarantines across the country.

As many as 114 have been discharged in the last 24 hours. A total of 2,338 people have been discharged after recovery and 24 have died so far.

COVID-19 has spread to all districts in Nepal except Rasuwa in Bagmati Province.
