Pakistan harbors Taliban militants for strategic goals: Pentagon

NEW DELHI: US Department of Defense (Pentagon) has said that Pakistan is continuing its support to Taliban and Haqqani terrorists.

Issuing a press note, Pantagon said, “Pakistan continues to harbor the Taliban and associated militant groups in Pakistan, such as the Haqqani Network, which maintains the ability to conduct attacks against Afghan interests.”

This comes in the wake of Pakistani leaders repeatedly assuring Washington that they support peace and stability in Afghanistan.

Prepared by the Inspector General and complied with the help of the Department of State and United States Agency for International Development, the report covers the period from January to March of Operation Freedom’s Sentinel, the US military mission in Afghanistan.
