11,587 people from Kavrepalanchok are in foreign land



KAVREPALANCHOWK: Eleven thousand 587 people from Kavrepalanchok district are abroad in various countries including India, the District-level Crisis Management Centre (DCMC) said.

The DCMC is working on a plan to upscale the number of quarantine facilities in the district after the government started making preparations to bring home the Nepali citizens stranded abroad and facing problem due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The district has 342 beds at various quarantine facilities managed by the 13 local levels and local organisations.
Four people are kept in quarantine at Paanchkhal, 11 people are kept in quarantine at Dhulikhel Hospital and 17 people are kept in quarantine at Chaurideurali rural municipality of the district at present.

DCMC coordinator and chief district officer Shrawan Kumar Timilsina said they are now working to upgrading the existing quarantine and constructing some more to accommodate the people returning home from abroad.

He said among the 11 thousand 587 people from the district who are abroad, one thousand 125 are in India. He added that 451 people returned to their home in the district from abroad in the last four months.

According to CDO Timilsina, rapid diagnostic test (RDT) for coronavirus has been done on 1,518 people and the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests on 172 people in the district so far. (RSS)
