PM Oli telephones Qatari PM, extends gratitude for releasing 17 Nepalis



KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdul Aziz al-Thani held a telephone conversation today evening during which PM Oli discussed about the well-being of the Nepalis in Qatar.

PM Oli also extended gratitude to his Qatari counterpart for releasing the 17 Nepalis serving a jail sentence on various charges.

The PM took to Twitter to share, “I held telephone conservation with the Prime Minister of Qatar today. I expressed my concern about the Nepalis in Qatar. He requested me not to be worried about the safety and well-being of the Nepalis there. On the occasion, I extended my gratitude towards him for releasing the 17 Nepalis.”

The PM further wrote, “We discussed measures taken by our two countries to fight the COVID-19 pandemic.”

According to the twitter handle of PM Oli, the Qatari PM also praised the hard work and honesty of the Nepali workers and assured his Nepali counterpart of Qatari government’s continued support and cooperation to the Nepalis.

Post the outbreak of the COVID-19, Prime Minister Oli has been holding conservations with the Head of the Government and Head of the States of various countries with the presence of Nepali diaspora there and taking stock of the welfare of the Nepali citizens in those countries as the pandemic continues to take a toll across the globe.
