343 container vans laden with foodstuffs enter capital

KATHMANDU: A total of 343 container vans carrying foodstuffs and other daily essential goods have arrived in Kathmandu.

One hundred and thirty container vans laden with vegetables, 55 carrying rice, 24 laden with milk, 21 carrying poultry, 20 carrying medicine, 18 ferrying fruits, seven trucks with flour and 26 others carrying eggs and oil entered the capital on Wednesday.

According to the Ministry for Industry, Commerce and Supplies, 77,548 metric tons of foodstuffs, 24, 218 metric tons of lentils, 40, 099 metric tons of vegetables and 10, 818 metric tons of fruits and 10, 996 metric tons of dairy products have been imported in the last 29 days since Nepal went into the lockdown to stem Coronavirus.
