KATHMANDU: The government stated tracking down the relatives and her friends of the 19-year-old girl who tested positive for the coronavirus for the first time in Nepal.

A 19-year-old girl who arrived in Nepal from France via Qatar transit on March 17 has tested positive for the COVID-19.

Organizing a press meet at the Ministry, Minister for Health and Population Bhanu Bhakta Dhakal said that a 19-year-old girl has tested positive for coronavirus. Her swab screening result came out yesterday.

“The family members of the victim have been kept at isolation and a search is underway to find out other passengers who came to Nepal along with her by the same flight,” said Dhakal.

Heath screening of all those undergoing isolation will be conducted to make sure if they have been infected with the novel virus, added Dhakal.

The girl was earlier self-isolating in her house. However, she is currently undergoing treatment at Sukraraj Tropical & Infectious Disease Hospital, Teku in Kathmandu, Minister Dhakal said.

Meanwhile, Minister Dhakal further said that the government would leave no stone unturned to tackle the pandemic.
